The ghetto youth of Mukono are officially in. According to a sports update from the Ghetto Coordinator, Ghetto FC Mukono and the Ghetto Netball team have joined the Mukono Mayor's Cup following the press conference at Mayor's Gardens, Mukono, where ward sports teams confirmed their participation.
Four disciplines, one stage
The tournament features four disciplines: Football, Netball, Volleyball and Kho Kho. It gives a platform to diverse sporting talents, and with a football side and a netball side from the ghetto structure, two of those disciplines now have a ghetto flag in them.
The opening fixture
The sports update reports that the opening football encounter is scheduled for Friday, 13th November 2026, between Mukono Municipality Health Club and Mukono Ghettos FC. Fans should confirm dates and kick-off times on the Fixtures page, which is the official schedule.
The Commander speaks
Ghetto FC's dangerous player, Salongo Mazinga, also known as Ghetto Commander 001, has confidently declared that his team is ready to discipline and defeat the municipal technical staff. He called on supporters to turn up with vuvuzelas and whistles.
Come with your vuvuzelas and whistles.
It is the kind of friendly bravado that makes a tournament come alive, and the municipal technical team will no doubt have their own answer on the pitch.
The organisers' call
The Mayor, Hon. Robert Peter Kabanda, the chief organiser, together with the Town Clerk's Office, urged the public to support a tournament that seeks to identify, nurture and uplift sporting talents. Winners will receive various prizes and trophies at the grand finale in January 2027.
